Horseback Riding Instruction
(year round, everyday)
Greenlawn Equestrian Center offers private and semi-private horseback riding lessons for children and adults. Lessons are offered in 30, 45 or 60 minute sessions. Beginner riders are encouraged to begin with a 30 minute private lesson which provides one-on-one instruction and assistance with handling of the horse as needed.
Semi-private lessons are two riders and horses being taught by a single instructor. Riders must be able to handle and control their horse on their own to participate in the semi-private lessons to ensure safety. Small group lessons may be offered for beginner riders as walkers are available, this ensures the horse is being controlled at all times.
What Is Taught
Beginner riders are taught how to mount their horse, stop, start, steer, and post. Experienced riders are evaluated during their first lesson and appropriate level riding skills are practiced and more advanced level riding skills introduced.
What Is Required
Riders are required to wear an equestrian helmet (we can provide one if needed) and riding boots (boot with a low heel). Other recommended although not required equipment may include riding gloves, riding pants and a riding vest. Please refer to the column to the right for our trainers recommendations of reasonably priced quality equipment for riders or call for a recommended supplier in our area.
How To Schedule
Horseback riding lessons may be scheduled any day of the week, certain times fill up fast so schedule in advance if possible. Prior to your first lesson we will require that a Riding Agreement be completed and signed which you can print direct from our website and bring with you for your first lesson.
Prices and Packages
To view our Lesson Price List click here. We offer great lesson packages for 4, 8, 12 or 40 lessons, saving you up to 30%. Lesson packages are for riders who ride at least once a week - all lessons must be used in the time period purchased for or they will be lost. Packages may be paid on a monthly basis, in which case we require a lesson package agreement to be signed agreeing to the payment terms. Single lessons and lesson packages can be purchased online or at our facility.

Schooling Shows
Twice a year we hold a Schooling Show in the Fall and Spring, which is a fun and relaxed way for our students to show how much they have learned to their friends and family. Our schooling shows are scheduled on a Sunday in November and May. This show is for our current lesson students only and friends and family are encouraged to attend this fun event. Riding Specials
Check for any special events and discounts on our home page. A favorite special is our discounted riding lessons during school holidays.
Gift Certificates
Riding Instruction Gift Certificates are available for single lessons or lesson packages. Makes a great gift for birthday, holiday or any special occasion. Gift certificates may be purchased online, over the phone or at our facility.
Horsemanship Classes
A great supplement to riding lessons is Horsemanship Classes and all beginner students are encouraged to take horsemanship classes to learn more about horses and how you can become a better rider!
Beyond The Rainbow 6 week Program
(Winter, Spring, Summer & Fall)
Four times a year the Girl Scouts offer a horseback riding program at Greenlawn Equestrian Center which runs for 6 weeks and is a beginner level class which is divided between riding and stable horse care. This is a great, affordable way to try out riding for your child. Currently these sessions are offered Tues, Thurs & Sun afternoons and are offered to all girls in 1st grade and above. You can register online thru the Girl Scout website or print a mail in registration form.

Scout Troop and Group Classes
Greenlawn Equestrian Center offers classes in horsemanship or horsemanship and riding to girl & boy scout troops and other class groups. Classes are an hour long and teach the basics of horsemanship along with a horse or pony ride. Call to schedule a convenient date and have fun learning about horses with others. We also offer year end pony parties for troops and classes - for more information see our Pony Party page - parties are a 2 hour event which includes pony/horse ride, horsemanship lesson, craft, pizza and drinks!
