HORSEMANSHIP CLASSES

NEW!  Holistic Horsemanship Classes

Holistic Horsemanship is the practice of creating Equine partnerships based on an emphasis on consciousness, leadership and compassion.

This program is based on all aspects of the horses bond with humans. In this method the rider or handler is taught to be acutely aware of the subtle teachings of the horse as we allow the horse to be the greatest teacher.  This program will evolve from “Intoductions” to the development of a fully established partnership.

Topics covered in the 4 week INTRODUCTION series will include:

ØApproaching the horse- respectful introductions, personal space, and reading basic body language

ØEstablishing leadership- moving in herd dynamics personal space awareness and ground skills

ØHuman interaction in the horse’s reality

ØThe physical horse- hands on bodywork and analysis

This program is for those new to horses right through to seasoned riders. No horse or horse knowledge needed. Inquire about our private sessions as well as training for those with their own horses.

Basic Horsemanship Classes
(Now Offered Monthly - Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced)

Horsemanship Classes are offered each month for beginners, intermediate as well as advanced students.  Horsemanship lessons are beneficial for both beginners as well as experienced riders.   Proper horse care techniques are taught and practiced each week to improve each students knowledge of horsemanship.  An in-depth instruction into handling horses, grooming, equine nutrition, equine first aid and stall maintenance are covered and practiced.  Students are given more advanced instruction and more responsibility as they gain experience and knowledge.  After beginner horsemanship is mastered students move on to intermediate horsemanship and then advanced horsemanship topics.

After taking our intermediate horsemanship class and after an evaluation by an instructor, students are allowed to ready their horse before their lesson including bringing the horse in from turn-out, grooming and tacking up.  In addition they can perform the necessary after lesson practices including cooling the horse down, grooming, hosing down and turning out. This practice provides a student with much more learning then simply taking a riding lesson and each student is encouraged to become involved at this level.
